The Silver Spur Riding Club is, for the 16th year, hosting the Vancouver Island Memorial Trail Ride Against Cancer. It starts Friday night, August 22nd with a chicken/pork barbecue dinner. Saturday morning, August 23rd, begins with breakfast and then riders will be sent off in guided groups for a 4 hour ride across Englishman River and through Englishman River Park, or shorter rides. On their return, White Spot hamburger, and prizes for the most pledges for the Oceanside Hospice Society. Metchosin Days at 4450 Happy Valley Rd. The Metchosin Equestrian Society has a great day planned with events in the Metchosin Riding Ring. We will have Horse Breed Demonstrations, such as Mini’s, Canadian, Quarter Horse, Rocky Mountain Horse, Arabian, Fjord and Andalusia. We will have the Mainstream Vaulters again this year, who always bring in a great crowd. In addition we will have local trainers and coaches performing throughout the day. To end the day, we will have “Tallina” the Wonder Horse and “Dandy” the Wonder Pony. All the events will start at 10am till 3:30pm. The full schedule of events for the Riding Ring will be posted on the Metchosin Day Website . A Concession stand will be available with hot and cold items.

The Cowichan Therapeutic Riding Association is excited to hold their first ever Roundup, at Avalon Equestrian Centre in Duncan. The days events will include a poker ride during the day, and a BBQ, live band, beer garden and silent auction in the evening. Tickets are available for only the evening`s events as well, so those non-horsey spouses and family members can partake. Overnight camping is available for horses and their people as well.
