KENTUCKY DERBY What are the odds of winning in a horse racing event? Kentucky Derby is the single largest horse racing event in North America that attracts thousands of people all over the country to bet on this sport. This year the race takes place on May 2, 2015.

Introduction to Liberty Training with Heather Nelson at Mystic Maples 1pm -4pm in Duncan. Learn the basic concepts and find out how to get started in this fun style of relationship based training! This is a demonstration style workshop where Heather will work with two horses new to liberty and also explain as she plays with one of her experienced horses. Fonda Munro Indoor Adventure Trail - includes obstacles such as teeter totter bridge, podium, curtain, pole and log walkovers, mazes, gate, bridges etc. Challenges for all levels in a relaxed learning atmosphere in hand and/or riding. Rockslide Fundraiser Fun Day- We had such a great time last weekend, that we have booked another one. Everyone & every discipline welcome- put on by the Peninsula Reining Club. Saanich fairgrounds ( Outdoor) Start time to be announced approx. 10- 3 ish…. $25.00 for the day, all proceeds go directly to Rockslide. which is held on May 8,9,10. Come out and have a good time. Nothing formal, just bring a horse , have some food, ride and visit with friends!

Dressage Freestyle Seminar - Dressage BC presents an Applause Dressage seminar on how freestyles are created and judged. You will learn about every step of the design process and what to consider when choosing music. The seminar is in the Oak Room at the Saanich Fairgrounds and starts at 9am. VTRA's Ride-A-Thon and Trail Clinic This event will be held at the lovely Elk and Beaver Lake utilising the trails and the Equestrian Center for the trail clinic. It will be a pledge event with prizes for the most amount of money raised both for groups and individual. A trail clinic will also be run and judged by Laura Foxgord with prizes and ribbons given out to the top 6 riders. More details to follow but please keep checking and we can not wait to see you all.

Explorations in Equine Facilitated Wellness - A two day training workshop with a learning module done in advance. This is an introduction to the growing field of Equine Facilitated Wellness. It is open to those with equine experience, those with a background in mental health as well as anyone interested in exploring this field of working together with horses and humans. Emails to

Two day Liberty Training Clinic with Heather Nelson at Mystic Maples in Duncan. Immerse yourself in this fun style of relationship training. You can bring a horse or attend the workshop without a horse for the full two days. There will be exercises for all involved, as well as individual sessions for participants who bring horses. VIAHA will hold the Island Classic Arabian Horse Show on June 27 and 28 at the Saanich Fairgrounds As well as Arabian classes we will also hold open all breed classes for Dressage and Heritage classes. The judge is Janet Henderson from Ontario. The entry form will be on our website soon.
